About us

Curriculum

We are a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance and our curriculum is based around the seven areas of learning and development of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS):

The three prime areas are:

  • communication and language
  • physical development
  • personal, social and emotional development

We also support children in the four specific areas:

  • literacy
  • mathematics
  • understanding the world
  • expressive arts and design 

Policies & Procedures

Our pre-school is governed by policies and procedures which follow OFSTED recommendations and are reviewed on a regular basis. All policies and procedures are maintained by our pre-school staff with input from committee members and parents. Our policies and procedures aim to reflect OFSTED’s national standards, as well as the principles of our pre-school.

Facilities

Our pre-school is based at Pattishall Parish Hall in Astcote. We have access to kitchen facilities, as well as a lovely new garden  and plenty of safe, off road parking.  We also benefit from being adjacent to the Parish playing fields and playground.

 

 

 

Safety and Security

The safety and security of our pre-school children is upmost in our minds. To assist with this some of our key procedures are:

  • All children have registered adults to collect them
  • All staff and volunteers are CRB checked
  • Either the front door to the hall is locked, or the door to our room if there are other groups using the hall.
  • Up to date risk assessments

 

Preparing for Primary School

We have very strong links with Pattishall Primary School. Our children are regularly invited for to the School for special events such as their Christmas production.   

As a rough guide the local primary schools expect new pupils into Reception class to be able to do the following:

  • Hang their coat up
  • Be able to use the toilet and wash hands independently
  • Dress and undress themselves
  • Open own lunch packs and packaging
  • Be able to use cutlery
